Comunicat 13-03-2020

Dear Partners,

Dear Friends,

We hope all is well with you and your families during this challenging time!

New developments in COVID-19 virus situation are going so quick we feel it is necessary to give you an update on its implications in Poland and at the University of Lodz.

Our response to it is continually being updated and the latest updates can be found here: https://covid19.uni.lodz.pl/?lang=en

Please be assured that the University of Lodz puts all its efforts to support all international studentswho are hosted by UL at the moment.

As informed before, all classes at UL are suspended until 14th Apriland within days students should receive details from Faculties about possible online classes. All necessary documents will be completed as soon as it is possible. IRO office is working from home now. And we work much more to make sure all stays under control. If you need any urgent confirmation about arrival/departure of your students - please contact katarzyna.ciupa@uni.lodz.plor iso@uni.lodz.p

Almost every day students receive detailed information about regulations given by the Ministry of Poland or UL Rector. The borders of Poland have been closed for the next 10 days. Some mobility students decided to return to home country (we believe they are safe back home), those who did not have such possibility are still in Lodz - in private flats and dormitories. We are doing all possible to make sure they stay safe here. All students receive instructions what to do and how to behave in case they observe something worrying about their health.

Please be informed though, that those who will not follow the rules in this difficult time might meet tighter restrictions. It is necessary that students are aware of how serious the situation is. If some of them would continue disobeying dormitory rules, the authorities of the University of Lodz would be forced to expel them from them for the sake of safety of others. We might be asking you to “talk” to your students if there is an urgent need of that. Please help us to support your students and ask them to obey the regulations.

Also, if the students inform you about any virus sympthoms – ask them to inform IRO immediately. It is not advised to leave their accommodation, unless it is very urgent - for food or medicine. No partying is allowed or spending time it groups. All public institutions are working online only, museums, clubs, restaurants are closed. It is crutial that during next weeks students do not meet with each other, spent times in groups or arrange any meetings. It is not allowed to travel at the moment outside Lodz, those who will leave the accommodation might have additional restrictions about enering back dormitories.

We keep posting news on our facebook: https://www.facebook.com/polishuniversity/

Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

All questions should be directed to iso@uni.lodz.pl

Best regards,
IRO Team

Dear colleagues and friends,

We are contacting you to inform you about latest UL Rector regulations concerning COVID-19 situation. Please see the attachment.

Please be informed that for last few weeks international students have received many e-mails from IRO informing about the challenging situation concerning coronavirus that is developing fast in Europe and Poland. Students were requested not to travel abroad and those who arrived late for the program to spent two weeks at home/dormitory. Few students who did not write back were informed that the University of Lodz is forced to cancel their mobility for this semester.

This message is to inform you that due to the latest regulation of University of Lodz Rector, all classes will be suspended until 14.04.2020 and further announcements will be given about any changes. Students will be requested to return home if it is safe and possible, if not – to stay in the place of accommodation. They will be asked not to travel in Poland or to any other country, and not attend any group meetings especially in public places. Please be informed that city hall of Lodz has closed all museums, theatres and other public institutions until further notice.

We do not want to frighten students or put you as a partner in any uncomfortable situation, but please be so kind to accept students decision if they decide to cancel their mobility and go back home. The International Relations Office is working, but any contacts with students are via e-mail and phone only.

We will give all necessary information, replies or documents (like confirmation of arrival).

We strongly hope for your understanding and hoping for future cooperation with no obstacles.
