Comunicat de la  Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) 30-03-2020

Dear partners,

We are writing to update you on the current situation in Lithuania. Like all institutions, VGTU has been closely monitoring and responding to the situation and providing all the necessary help to ensure the wellbeing of all students. Due to continuous increase in cases of COVID-19 in the country, by the order of the Government the quarantine has been extended till April 13th, 2020.

During the past 2 weeks, the University has encouraged Students to self-study by moving the consultation week of 6-12 April 2020 to 13-27 March. Our primary objective is to ensure that students can continue their education despite this disruption in a safe and productive environment, therefore, from 30th March, 2020 online classes will be held for all the students, until further information in regards to the situation will be available.

All university courses will be held through our distance learning facilities. We have prepared the temporary procedure for remote arrangement and administration of university studies, which will provide answers to the faculty members, administration and students on how we will work during this period (see attached).

Exchange students can continue their studies remotely regardless of whether they have departed to their home countries or not. We’re asking for your support and flexibility with recognizing their learning outcomes.

Answers to the most frequently asked questions are available at: vgtu.lt/covid-19/en

Administrative staff will continue support functions via online communications, International Relations Office is constantly reachable by emails and telephone.

Once again, we kindly ask you to provide all the necessary information and help to VGTU students if you’re currently hosting them. Our students have been directed to follow all guidelines given by your institution as well as all local health authorities to help in controlling this disease.

We look forward to continuing our collaboration despite the current circumstances. Please accept our apologies if certain procedures take longer than usual as we respond to this outbreak.

Kind regards,
