Comunicats de la Roskilde University

Comunicat 16-04-2020

Dear valued partner,

Before Easter, on 6 April, the Danish Prime Minister announced that the campuses of the Danish higher education institutions, will continue to be closed as a result of the Corona crisis. This means that the campus of Roskilde University is closed until 10 May. All RUC's previously announced precautions and guidelines regarding homework, distance education, exams, etc. continue until 10 May.

We do our best to be available and support our exchange students but in these difficult Corona times, we are also encouraging all students to care for each other. That is why Roskilde University has created an online community (platform) for international students. The main purpose of the online community is to create a space where students will be able to find fellow students and engage in social activities or share experiences of being isolated – and hopefully help each other though this phase of isolation. We support the online community the best we can together with the Study and Career Guidance and the Study Environment Coordinators.

At this stage, our institution continues to organise student exchanges assuming a return to a normal situation in the coming months, but might of course adapt depending on how the global health situation evolves.

We always remain available for additional clarification on the situation.

Stay safe and healthy.

Kind regards,

Helle Rod Søgaard (Ms)
Head of International Education & Mobility

Dear valued partner,

This is a further update following additional measures introduced by the Danish Government on 23 March.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Denmark, The Danish Prime Minister has announced that the many initiatives due to the Corona virus will be extended until Easter Monday 13 April. This means that the university remains closed for additional 2 weeks and that all staff and students must remain at home and continue online studies. We still believe that it is safe for your students to stay in Denmark and continue their studies online. However, they are encouraged to keep themselves updated and follow the latest instructions of the Danish Authorities.

Please know that we continue to offer our assistance and support to your students in their needs in this difficult time.

Online examinations

Currently, all classes are offered online and exams will also be arranged online throughout the rest of the semester. It means that students who already left Denmark and students who want to leave, can finish their courses and exams online from home.

Transcript of records

Transcripts of Records will be issued and sent digitally by request from you or your students.

Student exchanges for the 2020/21 academic year

At this point, we expect to support student exchange in the autumn 2020 semester, but we will of course follow the situation carefully.

We are also happy for students to initially apply for the autumn semester but then defer to the Spring semester if they prefer at a later stage. We also encourage students who had to interrupt their current exchange stay to come back at a later semester if it is possible for them.

We remain at your disposal for any questions or concerns you may have and we will continue to provide you with updates.

Please stay safe and Healthy.

Kind regards,

Helle Rod Søgaard (Ms)

Dear partner,

Due to the increase in number of Covid-19 cases in Europe and in Denmark, we wanted to update you on the measures we are taking in order to support your students.

On Wednesday, March 11, one student at Roskilde University has informed us that he or she has been diagnosed with COVID-19. The student is in isolation at home and the university has reported the infection to the Danish Patient Safety Authority.

Denmark's Prime Minister has announced, on Wednesday evening, that the country will close all kindergartens, schools and universities for two weeks as a preventive precaution to slow down the spread of coronavirus.

As a result of the announcement, all teaching at Roskilde University is canceled from today, Thursday 12 March and students are requested not to show up at the university.

From Friday 13 March all teaching and guidance will be carried out as much as possible via distance education. This will apply for a period of two weeks preliminary. All students will receive information about how to access online classrooms and other necessary information.

Our University is strictly following the instructions and procedures recommended by Danish authorities. All Roskilde University students, including incoming exchange students, are being fully informed about the guidelines and recommendations to respect. We informed all students and staff, how to proceed in case they are infected or are suspected to.

Roskilde University is still closely monitoring the situation. Should other measures become necessary, our institution will implement these immediately and keep the students and you informed to assure our absolute commitment to the wellbeing and safety of students currently with us at Roskilde University.

We remain available for any questions you or your students may have.

We continue to update our measures and any changes on the dedicated website: https://ruc.dk/en/corona-virus-covid19

Kind regards,

Helle Rod Søgaard (Ms)
Head of International Education & Mobility
