Dear partner,

 We sincerely hope you, your family and your loved ones are keeping well and safe in these extraordinary and difficult times. Hopefully, this ordeal will soon be over.

With this message, we would like to inform you of the strategy which the Faculty of Management at UC Leuven-Limburg will be following in the upcoming academic year:

ALL OUR INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES REMAIN AVAILABLE

As an active member of the KU Leuven Association, we stay committed to offering you the same quality higher education as before the pandemic:

• Our international programmes will officially start on Monday 21 September, but some courses may begin slightly later due to the corona crisis. Please also note that we expect all students to participate in the welcome days, which will be held in the week of 14 September, and that at this moment all international travellers to Belgium must still complete a 14-day self-isolation upon arrival.
• Whenever possible and safe, we will organise classes and international events on our campuses. However, if COVID-19 measures require us to do so, we will provide blended or online learning modules and international events, offering your students the highly interactive online education which our Belgian and international students are currently participating in.
• We will continue to monitor closely all aspects of the pandemic and adapt our response accordingly to ensure a safe and motivating learning environment to all international students at UC Leuven-Limburg.
• In light of the current situation, we advise international students to postpone making unrecoverable costs such as flights or accommodation until our next update, which will be issued on our website on 15 June.

STEPPING UP OUR TRADITION OF EXCELLENT STUDENT SERVICES

UC Leuven-Limburg's consistently well-reviewed student services have been extended considerably to assist international students even better:

• We regularly reach out to our international student community and worldwide partner institutions with pertinent website updates of the measures we take in the face of this pandemic.
• We filter out only the reliable bits relevant to our international students from the deluge of news announcements, summarising them in handy overview leaflets and trustworthy Facebook posts.
• To alleviate the added stress owing to the pandemic, we proactively initiate personal contact with our international students through weekly Microsoft Teams video chats with our student psychologists, our programme coordinators and our international office experts, as well as through Facebook Live chats

OUTSTANDING HEALTHCARE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN BELGIUM

Both local and international students at our campuses enjoy the benefits of the excellent Belgian healthcare system, which is consistently in the top of European and worldwide rankings:

§  In view of the high number of available hospital beds and intensive care beds per inhabitant both nationally and in the Leuven-Limburg area, international students are assured of proper care if needed.

§  A large majority of Belgian healthcare professionals are fluent in English, which is often their second language in a country famed for its multilingual prowess.

§  Thanks in part to the large government financing of the Belgian healthcare system, the Belgian healthcare services are affordable and accessible without excessive delays.
