Comunicats de la University of Innsbruck

Comunicat 09-04-2020

Dear Partners,

We hope this e-mail finds you well. This message is intended to update you on the measures adopted at the University of Innsbruck in response to the global COVID-19 situation.

The University of Innsbruck closed down on March 10, 2020 and switched to online courses on March 16. It has now been decided to continue the different modes of distance learning until the end of the semester (June 27, 2020).

We would like to assure you that all international incoming students receive regular updates from the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Teaching. As we stated at the beginning of the crisis, students should not suffer any disadvantages due to the current situation. Your students will be able to continue the courses they have signed up for at the University of Innsbruck via distance/online learning.

Please note that many of the online classes at the University of Innsbruck are being held at Central European time. This means that exchange students from overseas should be flexible with regard to time zone issues or get in touch with their lecturers to explore alternative solutions.

Examinations and tests will be carried out via alternative modes of assessment (e.g. online examinations, tests, additional assignments or oral exams). Faculties and staff are currently developing suitable arrangements and assessment modes for their courses. Students will receive further instructions directly from their lecturers in due time.

We greatly appreciate our partnership and we are certain that this common challenge will make our bonds even stronger. As of this moment and due to the positive developments in Austria, we are proceeding with the preparations for the academic year 2020/21 and are inviting partner institutions to nominate students for an exchange period in Innsbruck. The University of Innsbruck is closely monitoring the situation and we will update you immediately should there be any changes. Nevertheless, we are working on the assumption that we will be back to regular classes for the winter semester 2020/21. In case this should not happen, we will most likely continue with distance learning.

We are happy to answer any questions you might have regarding those measures. Please forward this information to other colleagues within your team who are supporting your students enrolled at the University of Innsbruck.

Thank you for your trust, your friendship and the continuous support of our outgoing students at your institution!

Sincerely

Barbara Tasser

Comunicat 11-03-2020

Dear Partners, dear Colleagues,

The University of Innsbruck would like to inform you about the current situation regarding the spread of COVID-19. As you might know from following the news, there have been confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Tyrol.

A task force has been established consisting of members of the Rectorate, health professionals and experts. For about two weeks, they have been in constant communication with the responsible Tyrolean authorities as well as the Federal Ministry, constantly assessing and re-evaluating the measures taken.

As of today, the University switched to distance learning courses. This means beginning with March 10, no lectures will take place on the university premises anymore, but teaching will be as far as possible carried out by using digital means. The university pledges that, despite this measure, teaching shall continue as smoothly as possible and that students will definitely not be at a disadvantage for their course of study. This measure is intended to slow down and eventually prevent the spread of the virus.

Please rest assured that your students receive regular updates on the current situation via their student mail-accounts and from the International Relations Office. University staff is in the office as usual and available via phone and email for any queries that might arise.

With all our best wishes during this difficult time,

The Rector and the team of the International Relations Office
