€33,192 p.a.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

• teach up to 32 ECTS (320 hours per academic year); 24 ECTS (240 hours per academic year)*
• design, coordinate, teach and assess English language modules (aimed at levels B2/C1 of the CEFR), drawing on the latest developments in Foreign Language Pedagogy as well as taking into account course requirements and student learning outcomes.
• supervise undergraduate dissertations.
• serve as academic advisor to students.
• maintain a minimum of three office hours per week
• make effective use of technology to enhance classroom learning.
• attend regular Departmental meetings.
• facilitate extra-curricular multilingual and multicultural activities, including the development of virtual language exchanges and similar initiatives.
• engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence and quality standards.

* Candidates with a PhD in hand will be granted a reduction in teaching load to enable them to pursue research

Required qualifications:

The successful candidate must have:

• native or near-native linguistic ability in English.
• experience in teaching English or a closely related discipline.
• outstanding teaching skills.
• substantial experience in curriculum design, review and development.
• a university degree in an area related to language.

Preferred qualifications:

Ideally, candidates should have:

• experience in teaching English or a closely related discipline at undergraduate level in a higher education institution.
• a Master’s degree in TESOL, CELTA, and/or experience teaching English to foreign learners.
• a knowledge of Spanish/Catalan.

4) World Englishes

5) Sociolinguistics
