Héctor Beltrán-Mir, doctor en Química, és actualment Catedràtic de Química Inorgànica a la Universitat Jaume I de Castelló, i secretari del Departament de Química Inorgànica i Orgànica, així com investigador del Grup d’Estat Sòlid des de 1997.
La meua investigació s’ha centrat en el disseny, la síntesi i la caracterització de materials multifuncionals avançats, particularment estructures tipus piroclor i perovsquita, amb aplicacions en camps com les electroceràmiques (principalment estudiades mitjançant espectroscòpia d’impedància), pigments inorgànics sostenibles amb funcionalitats innovadores, nanopartícules generades per làser i materials luminiscents a base de fluorurs. Més recentment, he iniciat una nova línia d’investigació sobre catalitzadors i fotocatalitzadors avançats per a l’eliminació de contaminants atmosfèrics i el tractament d’aigües residuals, respectivament, amb resultats molt prometedors.
He realitzat diverses estades postdoctorals, sent un moment clau en la meua carrera científica una estada de dos anys al Departament de Ciència i Enginyeria de Materials de la Universitat de Sheffield, sota la supervisió del Prof. Anthony R. West. Allí vaig aprofundir els meus coneixements en ciència de materials, especialment en materials elèctricament funcionals, vaig establir col·laboracions internacionals, vaig publicar en revistes d’alt impacte i vaig introduir noves línies d’investigació en el meu grup d’origen.
He impartit conferències i cursos convidats en esdeveniments de prestigi com l’"Electroceramics Summer School" a Limoges i l’“Autumn School 2023” a València, i he exercit com a Editor Convidat d’un número especial de la revista Inorganics titulat “Electroceramic Materials: Composition-Structure-Property Relationships”.
La meua producció científica inclou 84 treballs, dels quals 79 són articles científics revisats per parells, 75 indexats al Journal Citation Reports, i 68 publicats en revistes del primer quartil (Q1). He participat en 87 congressos nacionals i internacionals, molts d’ells amb contribucions orals i convidades.
Mantinc col·laboracions actives amb investigadors internacionals com el Prof. Anthony R. West (electroceràmiques), el Prof. Elson Longo (nanopartícules d’òxids generades per làser), la Dra. Catherine Elissalde i el Prof. Fabrice Mauvy (materials preparats per SPS, Universitat de Bordeus), i la Prof. Sandra Masseto (Universitat de Ponta Grossa, Brasil), així com amb diversos grups de recerca nacionals.
He participat en 15 projectes finançats amb fons públics i en 8 contractes amb empreses, actuant com a Investigador Principal (IP) en 10 d’ells (incloent 3 nacionals, 2 regionals i 4 finançats per la UJI). També he contribuït en 8 col·laboracions amb empreses sota l’Article 83 de la LOU, amb companyies com Colorobbia Espanya, Cerámica Nulense S.A., BIC Iberia S.A. i Deregallera LTD (Regne Unit), sent IP en tres d’aquests projectes. Així mateix, codirigisc treballs de final de màster en col·laboració amb empreses del sector ceràmic, connectant la recerca acadèmica amb les necessitats industrials i contribuint a l’avanç tecnològic.
Al llarg de la meua carrera, he dirigit 8 tesis doctorals (totes amb menció Cum Laude), 15 treballs de final de màster, una tesina DEA i un projecte de recerca, tots centrats en la resolució de desafiaments científics i tecnològics en els àmbits de la química i l’energia. Actualment codirigisc dues tesis doctorals més i assessore estudiants mitjançant pràctiques de recerca i treballs de final de grau. Participe activament en la docència i en la innovació educativa a la Universitat Jaume I, compromés amb una formació de màxima qualitat en el meu camp.
En resum, combine una sòlida productivitat científica, una transferència tecnològica activa i una dedicació constant a la formació de joves investigadors. El meu treball, interdisciplinari i innovador, abasta camps com les electroceràmiques, la catàlisi i l’òptica, ajudant l’estudiantat a desenvolupar competències avançades en síntesi, caracterització i aplicacions funcionals de materials. Les meues contribucions en investigació, desenvolupament i divulgació reflecteixen un ferm compromís amb l’avanç del coneixement i la resposta als desafiaments tecnològics i socials actuals.
