Ignacio Peñarrocha Alós va nàixer a Castelló en 1978. Va obtindre el títol d'Enginyer Industrial per la Universitat Jaume I en 2001, aconseguint el premi extraordinari de fi de carrera, i el títol de Doctor en el programa en Automàtica i Informàtica Industrial el 2006 a la Universitat Politècnica de València. Actualment és professor Titular en la Universitat Jaume I. Imparteix docència en assignatures relacionades amb el Control automàtic de processos en els graus d'enginyeria de la branca industrial i en el màster d'enginyeria industrial. Entre els temes d'investigació destaquen el control i identificació de sistemes amb mesures escasses, els sistemes de control en xarxa, i el diagnòstic de fallades i control tolerant a fallades en processos complexos com aerogeneradors, sistemes de producció de fred o en processos biològics.
