Until recently the number of students from foreign universities interested in studying temporally in our University had increased, but there were no legal regulations to admit them as temporary students. This is the reason why the University has approved a Regulation for visiting students who want to study temporally at Universitat Jaume I. The present regulations are subject to the review of the International Relations Council and the approval of the Governing Board.
These regulations can apply to
who wish to further their education within the courses of our University, both undergraduate and postgraduate, during a maximum of one academic year. They may apply as well to grant holders of the Foreign Office Ministry throughout bilateral international agreements with other countries.
This academic stay does not entitle them to a diploma, unless students ask for the recognition of their previous studies in accordance with enrolment regulations.
For undergraduate programmes, visiting students should not have finished their degree in the home university at the their time of their application.
Students' admission is dealt by the Office for International and Educational Co-operation. The Office will deliver a report for the corresponding School or Faculty, in case of undergraduate programmes, or to the coordinator of the PhD or Master's programme, in case of postgraduate studies. They will decide on the students' admission according to the number of places available and the value of the applicant. The application period will end by 15th June for the first semester and by 15th November for the second semester.
Visiting students have to prove an academic level adequate to perform the studies corresponding to the degree where they want to enrol.
The Dean Office or the Department will deliver its decision to the Office for International and Educational Co-operation, which will inform the applicant about his admission.
Applications shall be addressed to the Office for International and Educational Co-operation at the University Registrar's, enclosing the following documents:
All these documents will be certified, and translated by a sworn translator if they were written in any language different from the official languages of the Universitat, or not in English, French or German.
Students have to enrol for a minimum of 30 credits per semester and 60 credits per academic year.
Students can choose among subjects of any undergraduate course or in one of the PhD programmes for graduate students. Enrolment will take place during the enrolment periods of each semester, in October and March. Students will have to pay the tuition fees established by the Social Council of the University.
It cannot be longer than an academic year.
Students will have the right to sit the exams of the enrolled subjects.
The results do not give the right to the award of the diploma. At the end of the year, students can obtain an academic certificate with the passed credits at the University Registrar's.
Tuition fees paid for the services given by the University, as for example registration, Spanish courses and the university residence are the fees approved by the Social Council of the University.
Approved in the 16th Governing Council of 31 January 2000.
