Àrees d'aplicació:
Inteco desenvolupa el seu programa d’investigació sobre els efectes econòmics i socials de la integració real i financera. Així doncs, aprofundeix en dues àrees consolidades com són el comerç internacional (integració real) i la macroeconomia oberta (integració monetària), i s’obri a noves temàtiques no considerades prèviament (institucions, migracions, innovació). Les grans línies són, en primer lloc, l’anàlisi dels acords de comerç profund. Aquests acords transcendeixen les fronteres de l’anàlisi clàssica limitades a les barreres (bàsicament tarifaries) per a incorporar un altre tipus de clàusules que afecten la lliure circulació de factors (IDE, treballadors) així com els efectes derivats de la competència, les clàusules mediambientals, la seguretat institucional (arbitratge, seguretat legal…). En particular, s’estudien els efectes interns («erga-intra») i externs («erga-extra») en el cas de la Unió Europea. En segon lloc, l’altra línia d’investigació estudia els desequilibris macroeconòmics i els seus efectes sobre el benestar i la distribució de la renda entre grups socials, gèneres i països. Per a això s’analitzen els principals problemes de governança per a aconseguir una àrea econòmica uniforme a Europa, així com les propostes en marxa realitzades per les institucions europees i els estats membres. Finalment, s’estudien els distints temes de política econòmica per a la recuperació dins de la zona euro.
