General information on supplementary training requirements for degree recognition

General information on supplementary training requirements for degree recognition

This information addresses Spanish or foreign graduates holding a degree awarded by a non-Spanish university and whose university studies have not been recognised by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science (hereinafter, MEC) because they have not been considered to be equivalent to the Spanish degrees of diplomado universitario, arquitecto técnico, ingeniero técnico, licenciado, arquitecto, ingeniero and doctor. These students shall have to complete a series of supplementary training requirements on those subject matters in which, according to the MEC, the students show training deficiencies.

Registration and fees

Upon issuance of the corresponding decision by the MEC, the candidates interested in sitting this exam at the Universitat Jaume I shall have to request information on the training requirements indicated by the MEC by submitting an application form to the corresponding centre prior to their registration.

The following documents must be presented at the Registry Office in the Rectorate Building.

  • Application form to register for completion (PDF) of supplementary training requirements, addressed to the Dean’s Office/School Director’s Office where the degree subject to recognition is taught.
  • Photocopy of national ID card or passport
  • Photocopy of the MEC’s decision on completion of supplementary training requirements
  • Photocopy of a certificate indicating the supplementary training requirements completed at another university, where appropriate

Within 15 days upon receipt of the documents, the centre shall inform the candidate and the Teaching and Student Office (SGDE) the reply to the information requested.

If the candidate agrees with the report issued, he/she shall address the SGDE to submit an application form to register for the supplementary training requirements (PDF) indicated in the report issued by the centre, and shall pay the corresponding fees, which according to the annual fee decree, are 117.77 euros this year, payable in one installment (except for the supervised course, whose fee is 13.46 euros per credit registered).
