Description: The studies aim to pass on the graduate students in History of Art and other similar fields, the legacy of knowledge and competences elaborated by the discipline during the 150 years of its academic institutionalization and which acquisition is essential to critically understand and evaluate both the artistic object and the creation process. Taking into account that university studies, especially grade studies, offer a very general training, the postgraduate studies mean the suitable framework to achieve a specializing training. This training can be defined with criteria of academic excellence and scientific interest. As well as the consolidation of the traditional fields of History of Art, focused on the artistic object; the master's degree aims to widen the disciplinary limits in order to add some of the contributions developed in the last two decades by the visual studies and which give answer to the undeniable evidence that we live immersed in an extraordinary variety of images, not necessarily artistic, which demand new methodological approaches. This master's degree comes from the conviction that we must know that understanding the visual culture means to approach all images (without the limits that the aesthetic criteria mark) from past to present with the aim of understanding their meaning as cultural representations related to beauty, religion, power, social relations, nature or the body.
