a) Exchange students
Universitat Jaume I takes part in exchange programmes with other universities, either as part of their own programmes with universities in America, Russia, Asia and Austrlia or within the scope of international or national programmes, such as ERASMUS and SICUE.
The home university of the students who come to UJI must send a list of candidates to the International Relations Office (ORI) three months before the beginning of the semester for all the programmes, except SICUE, which should be sent two months before the start.
Incoming exchange students must provide some basic data about themselves in the following web page: (deadline: 15th June / 15th November) This will serve as a pre-registration within this university.
After the pre-registration process, the Universitat Jaume I will then proceed with the registration process, and will send students a letter of admission with all the necessary information documents about UJI and Castelló, along with usernames and passwords so that they can continue with their full registration and enrolment in the university on-line. Exchange students do not have to pay their academic fees at the Universitat Jaume I, but at their home universities.
Further information concerning the registration procedure is available at the following web page: http://www.incoming.uji.es
b) Visiting students
Visiting students are enrolled in another university outside Spain, and wish to study for one academic year or semester at UJI. They are not involved in any of the University's exchange programmes or agreements. Scholarship holders from the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs under bilateral agreements with other countries would also be included in this group.
For further information please check the following webpage.
Enrolment in the subjects you want to study is done at the beginning of the semester once you have payed at least half of the total fees. At the moment you enrol, you will obtain a confirmation of enrolment form, and an e-mail account. Later, you will be given your student ID card.
c) Academic timetable and information
Information about the syllabi of each subject or course is available from different sources:
d) Orientation sessions
Orientation sessions are held during the first week of the intensive Spanish course which is run before the semester starts, and during the week before the semester begins. You must arrive one week before the semester begins so as to have time to look for accommodation and to attend these orientation sessions held by the Office of International Relations (ORI) and by the academic tutors.
On arrival, you should go to the ORI (on the ground floor in the building adjacent to the Library) to receive instructions and to learn about the documents you will need during your stay at the University. These include your student ID card and instructions on how to enrol.
You will also be informed about how the University works, about the studies and services, and you shall be taken on a guided tour of the campus. The academic tutors arrange meetings with the students. An extensive leisure programme is also provided.
e) Contacting your academic tutor
As an exchange student, you must contact your academic tutor before your arrival. You will receive instructions via e-mail on how to do it. It is very important that you fill –in your choice of subjects before you arrive, so that the academic tutor can advise you on them.
As an incoming exchange student all the subjects are open to you, but we strongly recommend to choose at least 80% of the subjects most related to your home studies, as you will be admitted officially in one specific degree.
You will be allowed to attend any classes you want during the first few weeks of the semester until you decide which ones you are interested in. You must be sure to make up your mind in time to enrol for the subjects.
Please, click here to find out about the academic coordinators in each degree programme.
f) Transcript of records
The usual procedure for making grades known is as follows. A few days after sitting the exam, the lecturer of the subject will make the grades known to the students, and will tell them the date and time they are available to review or discuss any doubts or discrepancies regarding the grade obtained in the exam and/or projects, should this be the case. Some time later, the grades are included in the official records, which may be consulted over the Internet at http://e-ujier.uji.es/ from then onwards.
Once exams are over, the International Relations Office (ORI) will send an official transcript of academic records to all exchange students in their home country. Visiting students will be able to obtain their transcript from the Teaching and Student Service (Servei de Gestió de la Docència i Estudiants).
A transcript of your academic record can only be issued a month after the end of the exam period. Thus, students from the first semester will not be able to receive their transcript until mid-April, and students from the second semester will not receive theirs until mid-September.
In order to study an official master’s degree course, either official or UJI-specific, or a UJI-specific specialisation course, the applicant must hold an official graduate qualification from the Spanish university system (currently, licenciatura, ingeniería, arquitectura, diplomatura, ingeniería técnica or arquitectura técnica) or from a foreign university system (in this case, the graduate qualification does not have to be recognised). Students currently on official graduate degrees who have not yet finished their studies can also be admitted to the courses if they have completed at least 180 credits, which must include all the core credits of their degree.
