Castelló is the northernmost province of the Valencian Community. It is located 65 kilometres to the north of Valencia and 285 kilometres to the south of Barcelona.
The Mediterranean Sea, which stretches over 112 km off the coast of Castelló, offers a great variety of very clean beaches. Actually, most of them have been awarded EU’s Blue Flags (a guarantee of quality), among which the Serradal, Gurugú and el Pinar beaches stand out. A significant part of the exports are shipped through the port, one of the cornerstones of the province’s economy, which is mainly based on the ceramics industry, agriculture and tourism.
The weather is pleasant all year round thanks to two facts: the proximity of the sea and of the Desert de les Palmes, a nearby small range of mountains which protect the town against the cold northwestern winds. The two factors combined allow for an average yearly temperature of 17ºC, which makes open air activities possible throughout the year.
We advise you to leave as early as possible in the morning from the place of origin so that you can get a good train connection from a Spanish airport to Castelló. Try to arrive in Castelló at a reasonable time of the day so that you can still find some help and information.

The train and bus station is situated between the city centre and the campus. There is a total distance of 4 km approx.
To arrive in campus there is a new guided bus called TRAM that connects the city centre and UJI in only 5 minutes. It starts in Ribalta Park, near the city centre, and goes past the train station into the campus every 5 minutes from Monday to Friday from 7.30 to 22.30h, and every 15 minutes on weekends.
Certain bus lines also connect the campus with the town, specifically line 7 connects the campus with the train station and lines 11 and 12 connect the campus with the city centre.
There are different kinds of TRAM/ bus tickets:
You can buy the tickets and the Card on the bus or tram. The Cards require an extra charge of 3 euros.
It is also possible to access the campus by bike. The university lends bicycles to students through the Sports Centre. And the Council of Castellon also lends bicycles for free during short periods of time through a Service called BICICAS. Pre-registration (PDF) is necessary. Only a deposit of 10 euros is required.
If you plan to take a taxi, you should phone 964 25 46 46 or 964227474.
Remember that if you are calling from outside Spain, you have to dial +34 before the telephone numbers above.
