Connect
a laptop to the Net
The Library offers its users the possibility of connecting a computer
to the FREEnet network
at the Universitat Jaume I. Users may
connect either through wireless Internet access (activated in
the rooms with emission devices for Internet connection) or by using the wall
sockets
(network connections) located in some of the University’s
reading rooms.
The instructions to set up the connection to this network can be found
in the
‘FREEnet Quick
Installation Guide (Windows
XP)’ that is available at the Library information and loan
desks or on http://www.si.uji.es/bin/acces/doc/guia-xp-en.pdf
If you do not have an internal wireless network card or you need a
network
cable to plug your computer into a FREEnet
socket,
you can ask for one on loan at the loan desk in the Library (wireless-UJInet and FREEnet computers).
There are two types of connection devices depending on the operating
systems
installed in the wireless-UJInet
and FREEnet computers:
For
connections using a PC
card, you will first have to install the drivers that can be downloaded
from
the CD-ROM that you will find inside the computer. The cards, CD-ROM,
USB
antenna and optical cable can be loaned for a day, and they also have
to be
returned to the loan desk.
For further
information on
setting-up, devices and areas of Wi-Fi coverage in the rooms, consult http://www.si.uji.es/acces/uk_freenet1.html
