The Document Acquisition Section provides access to library collections anywhere in the world thanks to the library collaboration agreements. At the same time, it enables other libraries to consult the University collection when they request this.
Users
This service is available for all University members and for those libraries wishing to gain access to our collection.
Documents available
- Books (originals or photocopies of some pages)
- Photocopies of journal articles
- Microfilms or microfiches
- Electronic documents
Price
The supplying libraries charge rates, which have to be paid by the user (be it a person, department, a service, etc.), are as follows:
CBUC rates:
Original document on loan: free
Copies: 0.12 euros each page
REBIUN rates:
Original document on loan: 7 euros
Copies: Up to 40 photocopies (or PDF, TIFF, etc.): 5 euros
Additional page: 0.40 euros
The Universitat Jaume I Library also applies these rates when it acts as a supplying library to other libraries.
How to make requests
Simply fill in the Document Acquisition Section’s
online form. If a department or a service is in charge of paying the cost of this service, then the request must be authorised by the head of the department or service.
This form is to be sent by electronic mail. If the form is filled in on behalf of a department or service, then an authorised address is required. We admit any type of normalised form (IFLA, CINDOC, etc.) other than that elaborated by the Document Acquisition Section.
Terms and conditions of use
· Consultations about original works have to be made in the Library reading room during the times the Library establishes to lend the document.
· Works that are easy to acquire should not be requested via this system.
· Although the libraries do not lend journals, reference works (encyclopaedias, dictionaries, etc.) or old or rare copies, photocopies or microfiches of parts of copies users may be interested in may be obtained.
· As a supplying library, the UJI Library applies the
REBIUN inter-library loan work group agreements (PDF document).
· The users who utilise this service are committed to respect the loan terms and conditions established by the supplying library, as well as the legal regulations in force on copyright issues.
“Travelling suitcase” and in situ loan
We would like to mention two inter-library loan cooperation programmes in which our Univeristy takes part, as a member of the
Consortium of Academic Libraries of Catalonia (CBUC):
“Travelling suitcase”
This programme is based on the contracting of a courier service that brings the documents requested by the users of the CBUC libraries on a daily basis. Through this system, any member of our University community (lecturers, students or personal and administration staff) can request books or articles that are found in another CBUC library, and 97% of documents arrive in less than nine days. Requests can be made directly from the Collective Catalogue of the Universities of Catalonia (CCUC) screen.
In situ loan
The in situ loan programme allows researchers, lecturers, postgraduate students and administration and service staff from any CBUC library to borrow documents from another library in the Consortium without having to use the inter-library loan service. This service enables the specified users of our library to be able to personally borrow books from another CBUC library and return them within the period agreed upon at the UJI Library.
