Asked Questions
Opening
hours and general information
When
is the Library open?
The Library is open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 22.00 and
Saturdays from 9.00 to 14.00.
During exam periods, it is open 24 hours a day. The start date for this
period will be announced in the ?News? section of
the Library web site in good time.
If
I am not a member of UJI, can I access the Library?
Access to the Library is open for everybody who wishes to visit it,
regardless of the fact that they are members of the university
community of Castellón or not, or whether they are part of
the community in general. The Library has agreements with various
organisations, and provides library services to their members, as
occurs with
SAUJI
(Universitat Jaume I Friends and Alumni Society), an association
created to establish a link between the community of
Castellón and the University.
If
you have lost an object...
Property lost at the Library is left at the loan desk (Level 1) and
will remain there, in storage, up to a maximum of 3 days. After this
period, it will be sent to the Lost Property Office at
Infocampus.
I
can?t find a place to study, but there are a lot of empty
desks with personal objects on them...
Desks for study cannot be reserved and users are not allowed to leave
desks for longer than 15 minutes.
Locating resources
How
can I find a book?
The most efficient method to locate a book is using the Library
catalogue.
You can consult it from any computer with access to the Internet both
inside and outside the Library. If you have any questions, go to the
information point at the loan desk (Level 1).
Where
are the books on...?
Books are arranged by subjects on the shelves of the various levels.
The subjects that correspond to each level can be consulted on the
information sheets that you will find at the information points and at
the loan desk.
How
can I find films in the catalogue?
An easy way to find them is by searching the
catalogue
by film title. You can also find them by searching by the name of the
director, in which case you have to fill in the author field. Another
possibility is to use the
Advanced
search option in the catalogue and to restrict your search by
selecting ?enregistrament de vídeo?
(video recording) within the format menu.
How
can I find journal articles if I have the article citation?
If you have the article citation and you know the journal it has been
published in, you have to search the article title in the catalogue and
check whether the journal issue in question is in the open-access rooms
or in the deposit. In this case, you will have to ask for it at the
loan desk. In the open-access rooms you can find journals published
since 2002 up to the current year. In addition, you can also search
SFX.
From this link, you have to go to Citation Linker, where you have to
fill in at least 3 of the fields available. When appropriate, you will
be automatically redirected to the electronic journal and to the
full-text article or abstract in PDF or HTML.
How
can I find journal articles if I do not have the article citation?
If you do not have the article citation, you can search the Library
databases (digital resource index), the electronic journals subscribed
or the journal contents.
Digital
resource index: you will find a list of the
Library?s digital resources including a short description of
the contents. Each resource offers a different search method, but they
are all intuitive for users.
Electronic
journals subscribed: it is an alphabetical list of journals
subscribed by the Library in which the subscription years and the link
to access the journals are specified.
Journal
contents: journal contents include the list of articles a
journal contains.
The contents of journals between 2001 and 2006 can be found in the
catalogue
of Library journals. From 2007, the Library incorporates
contents to the contents
database
of CBUC (Consortium of Academic Libraries of Catalonia).
To access all these resources, users have to be members of the
University community. Access can be obtained from computers at the UJI
or at home following the instructions you can find at:
http://www.si.uji.es/acces/freenet.html.
