Open access initiatives: repositories and journals
The open access literature set within the framework of the Open Access
(OA) movement (see
Budapest
Open Access Initiative (2001);
Berlin
Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities
initiative
(2003)) refers to free online copies of journals reviewed by experts,
non-reviewed articles, preprints, congress papers, technical reports,
theses and working papers. In most cases, there are no licence
restrictions for their consultation.
The idea is to offer all members of the University the results freely,
digitally and online. Researchers can include a copy of the articles in
an open access archive or repository, or publish them in open access
journals. The concept of Open Access does not only have to do with
accessibility to scientific documents, but also to the elimination of
copyright for published scientific articles. For further information,
visit the selected web sites and documents.
These concepts have originated several initiatives. On this page you
will find a selection of open access initiatives with a short
description. You can contribute by sending references, comments, etc.,
to
biblioteca@uji.es.
