The FREEnet Network Connection Service

Creation date: 02-01-2006 - Last modification: 02-01-2006

How to use it?

Step 1: Connection to the network

Within the University campus, you will be able to use this service with either a network cable or your computer’s wireless card. If you use a network cable, you will need to plug your laptop into a FREEnet socket.

If you use a wireless card, you will have to connect to the "UJI" wireless network (SSID=UJI). The university areas with wireless coverage are marked with the following signs:

Signs

Label identifying FREEnet-type sockets Sign indicating you are in a WI-FI coverage area

In both cases, the computer must be configured in such a way as to automatically obtain the network data (this is the default configuration). In Windows, you can find the settings in:

Control Panel --> Network Connections --> TCP/IP Protocol --> Obtain an IP address automatically --> Automatic DNS
